What is Matcha?
Matcha is a finely ground powder made from specially grown and processed green tea leaves.
Matcha has been a central part of traditional tea ceremonies for centuries. Unlike regular green tea, where the leaves are steeped and then discarded, matcha uses the entire leaf. This means it contains more antioxidants and nutrients.
The vibrant green color is created through a unique cultivation process in which the tea plants are shaded just before harvest. This increases the levels of chlorophyll and amino acids, particularly L-theanine, known for its calming and concentrated energy effects.
