Matcha, explained

Where does matcha come from?

All our matcha comes from Japan. We work directly with farms in Kagoshima, Shizuoka, and Kyoto. We prioritize sustainability and transparency. All ASA-certified matcha bags clearly show where your matcha comes from.

What is the difference between Ceremonial, Latte, and Culinary matcha?

Matcha comes in different grades. The highest grade (Ceremonial) is made from the very top of the tea plant. This has the mildest flavor. The second part of the plant is used for the Latte grade. This has a slightly stronger flavor and is therefore suitable for mixing with milk. The Culinary grade is made from the lower part of the plant. This has an even stronger flavor and is therefore suitable for baking and cooking. The matcha flavor remains well-preserved when combined with sugar and dough.

Is ASA Matcha organic?

Yes, all our matcha is organically grown in Japan. It is packaged and shipped in the Netherlands, all under SKAL certification.

How do I store my matcha?

Store your matcha in an airtight container. This can be the bag it comes in, or you can store it in a dark jar with an airtight lid. Make sure it's protected from air and light. Also, keep your matcha in the refrigerator for the longest shelf life.
